I burned my customized ESXi ISO and used a USB-CD drive to install the NUC. The system does not have a remote access card, so you have to install it with PXE or by CD. I also gave mine a SSD to leverage the new vSphere 5.5 features. The assembly is really quick, it took about 5 Minutes to open it, install the memory modules and close it. To assemble the memory, you have to remove 4 screws on the bottom.
